Airframe and Power Plant Course

The A & P Course covers basic electricity, weight and balance, math, physics, airframe structures and systems, sheet metal, bend allowance, rivet identification, fuel and hydraulics, power plant theory, induction, exhaust, ignition, lubrication, propellers, and fire protection systems. Also included is an oral and practical examination review.

The purpose of these courses is to prepare you for the FAA Mechanic written, oral, and practical examinations for Airframe and/or Power Plant ratings. They are refresher courses - we work with experienced aircraft mechanics who wish to earn a FAA Airframe and/or Power Plant license.

Once you pass the written FAA examination you must pass the oral and practical examinations. If you choose to take these in North Carolina then they will be scheduled with a designated FAA examiner by E & Z at no additional charge.

Once you have completed all requirements (written, oral, and practical examinations all completed within a 24-month period) you will receive your FAA Airframe and/or Power Plant certification - you will no longer be just a mechanic, but rather a fully-qualified technician!

In order to enroll in the A & P Refresher Course you must meet the following requirements:

  • Be at least 18 years-old
  • Be able to read, write, and understand English (or have your certificate endorsed as "Valid Only Outside the United States" if you work for a US carrier outside the United States)
  • Have at least 30 months of practical hands-on experience (18 months if enrolling in either the Airframe Course or the Power Plant Course only).
  • If you are a military student you must have a document signed by your commander that details all of your practical experience - you may also provide a letter documenting said experience that is signed by someone who already holds the rating you are attempting to enroll for.

These skill requirements are in accordance with Federal Aviation Regulation 65.79

All proscribed tests for the appropriate rating must be completed within a 24-month period!
